Argus G2, how to run Voopoo's screen pod and choose a cartridge

One button, a colour screen and three animations that play while you take a puff. The Argus G2 from Voopoo puts more effort into its presentation than most pods of its size. That choice has a cost. Every setting sits behind a sequence of presses that the printed manual covers in a few lines, and the screen speaks only in short English alerts. Before the first cartridge goes in, it pays to know what you are adjusting and what the device is trying to tell you.
Argus G2, what to know before you switch it on
The Argus G2 is a pod kit with a built-in 1000 mAh battery, adjustable from 5 to 30 watts, that runs on cartridges from the Argus family. It fires on inhale or on the button, and its 0.96 inch TFT colour screen shows the wattage, the resistance it has detected and the remaining charge.
A single button runs everything, from power on to the menus. Voopoo lists three modes, Smart, Super and Eco, and a supported resistance range of 0.4 to 3.0 ohms.
The name causes confusion in shops. Many listings for this pod describe the Argus G2 Mini+, a version without a screen, with a simple indicator light and a larger battery. Everything below applies only to the model with a screen. To see how this format compares with other pods, our guide to the best pod vapes sets out the criteria we use.
The UK version of the Argus G2
British buyers get the TPD edition, and it differs from the international one in two visible ways. Voopoo rates its standard Argus Top Fill cartridges at 3 ml, but UK rules cap refillable tanks and pods at 2 ml, so the TPD kit ships with 2 ml cartridges. The device is also shorter, 116 mm tall against 121 mm for the standard model, according to the manufacturer.
In the box you get the device, two cartridges (0.4 ohm and 0.7 ohm), a USB-C cable, a manual and a lanyard. A UK retailer that reviewed the kit lists the same contents. E-liquid is never included, and nicotine-containing liquid in the UK is limited to 20 mg/ml and sold in 10 ml bottles.
One button for every function
Voopoo assigns every function to the fire button. The number of quick presses decides what opens, and inside a menu a long press confirms the choice.
Power on, vaping and wattage
Five quick presses turn the device on. From there you can simply inhale, or hold the button down for the length of the puff.
Three presses open the wattage setting. Each further press changes the value. Leave the button alone for a few seconds and the setting closes, keeping the value shown.
Two menus, on two and five presses
Two presses open the mode menu. A short press scrolls through Smart, Super and Eco, a long press confirms, and the Exit option closes the menu in the same way.
Five presses with the device already on bring up a second menu. It groups power off, button lock, the puff counter reset and the lighting.
Smart, Super and Eco, three ways to heat
Smart mode picks its own settings according to the resistance of the cartridge fitted. It is the natural starting point on a new device.
Super and Eco both work in watts but behave differently at the start of each puff. Super sends a short burst of extra power to bring the coil up to temperature, so vapour arrives sooner. Eco softens that start and, according to the manufacturer, lowers power and liquid consumption.
Each mode has its own animation, which shows at a glance which one is active. In its published review, Ecigclick picked out Super as the mode that gave the strongest flavour, and found Eco more muted at the same wattage.
Which cartridge suits the Argus G2
The cartridge shapes the draw far more than the device. Voopoo pairs each resistance with a recommended power band, worth keeping in mind as soon as you set the watts by hand in Super or Eco.
| Cartridge | Resistance | Recommended power |
|---|---|---|
| Argus Top Fill | 0.4 ohm | 18 to 30 W |
| Argus Top Fill | 0.7 ohm | 14 to 18 W |
| Argus Top Fill | 1.0 ohm | 10 to 14 W |
| Empty cartridge, ITO-M0 coil | 0.5 ohm | 18 to 25 W |
| Empty cartridge, ITO-M1 coil | 0.7 ohm | 14 to 18 W |
| Empty cartridge, ITO-M2 coil | 1.0 ohm | 10 to 14 W |
| Empty cartridge, ITO-M3 coil | 1.2 ohm | 8 to 12 W |
The empty cartridge with ITO coils
The Argus G2 is one of the few pods that accepts both cartridges with a built-in coil and an empty cartridge with replaceable coils, according to Voopoo. The empty cartridge takes ITO coils from 0.5 to 1.2 ohm.
Replacing only the coil means you no longer throw away a whole cartridge when the cotton wears out. The cartridge with a built-in coil keeps the advantage of simplicity.
Matching the liquid to the cartridge
Voopoo pairs the restricted direct lung draw of the 0.4 ohm cartridge with freebase nicotine liquid, and the tighter mouth to lung draw of the higher resistances with nicotine salts. The international product page mentions strengths of up to 30 mg, which does not apply in the UK, where the ceiling is 20 mg/ml.
What the Argus G2 screen messages mean
The screen does more than display settings. When something goes wrong it shows a short message in English, and a small built-in motor makes the device vibrate. The manufacturer explains each one.
- Check Battery flags a battery fault. After a fall onto a hard surface or contact with water, Voopoo treats the battery as probably damaged, and the safest choice is to stop using the device. Without any accident, it suggests charging first.
- Time Out means the puff went past the five second limit. Heating stops, and a shorter draw is all it takes.
- Check Atomizer means the cartridge is not detected or its resistance is outside the expected range. Voopoo advises wiping away any leaked liquid under the cartridge, then trying another cartridge or coil if the message stays.
- Low Power announces a flat battery that needs charging before the next puff.
- Temp High signals an internal temperature that is too high. Put the device somewhere cooler until it settles.
These alerts sit on top of the seven protections Voopoo lists, against short circuits, overcharging, output overcurrent, low battery, overheating, excess power and puffs that run too long.
Finish and colours, a pod designed as an object
The body combines zinc alloy and polycarbonate. Voopoo highlights a fine polish that leaves a glossy, smooth surface.
The range comes in eight colours, Astral Silver, Space Gray, Spray Black, Aurora Purple, Glow Pink, Iris Blue, Pearl White and Peachy Beige. Its colours and screen put this pod in the movement described in our vape trends for 2026, where design has become a selling point in its own right.
FAQ
These questions cover charging and upkeep, beyond the menus and settings explained above.
How do you charge the Argus G2?
With the USB-C cable in the box. While charging, the screen shows a bubble animation and an estimate of the time left until 100%. Voopoo specifies a 5 volt, 2 amp input and a full charge in around thirty minutes.
How do you fill the cartridge without removing it?
On recent Argus cartridges the filling port sits on the side under a silicone plug, so the cartridge can stay in place. On the first Argus cartridges the plug is on the lower half, which means taking the cartridge out. With a new cartridge, a few minutes of waiting lets the cotton soak before the first puff.
Do cartridges from other Argus devices fit?
Yes. Voopoo states that its Argus cartridges work across the Argus family, whether Snap, Top Fill or Top Fill V2, in 2 or 3 ml depending on the version. UK stock is the 2 ml version.
Does the Argus G2 have adjustable airflow?
Yes. A slider on the device opens or closes the air intake, which lets you move from a tight draw towards a looser one with the same cartridge. Published UK reviews of the kit describe this sliding control, which works alongside the choice of resistance rather than replacing it.
What if the screen stays black?
Five quick presses turn the device back on. If nothing appears, plugging in the cable shows whether the screen wakes up while charging. Failing that, Voopoo suggests trying another cable and another plug, and clearing dust out of the USB-C port.
Argus G2, a screen that guides more than it decorates
Behind its animations, the Argus G2 reads as a complete adjustable pod. Its single button takes a few minutes to learn, two presses for the modes, three for the wattage, five for everything else. After that, the screen works as a dashboard that turns each fault into a plain message. In the UK the 2 ml TPD edition is the one on sale, and the empty cartridge with ITO coils is an option worth knowing about. With the Argus G2, Voopoo shows that a small pod can compete on its interface as much as on its power, a shift that is spreading across recent vaping hardware.
